MAP YOUR FIRST LOOP

Start with one fight you already know.

You do not need to understand your entire relationship to begin seeing the pattern.

Think about one disagreement that has happened more than once.

The details may change, but something about the interaction feels familiar.

Over the next few minutes, you will look at your experience of that interaction and identify four parts:

Launch → Overload → Old Story → Protection Move

There are no right answers.

You are not trying to decide whose version of the argument is correct.

You are looking for the sequence that tends to pull you in.

If you are doing this together:

Complete your maps separately first. You may experience the same interaction very differently. That difference is useful information, not something you need to settle before continuing.

Private by design. Free by purpose.

Map Your Loop is a free, self-guided educational tool.

It helps you describe one recurring conflict as a sequence using the Break the Loop framework:

Launch → Overload → Old Story → Protection Move.

The tool does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, account, or other identifying information. Your Loop Map responses are not retained, reviewed, shared, sold, or used to contact you. There is no mailing-list signup, sales call, required purchase, or follow-up attached.

Break the Loop offers this tool free because recognizing the pattern is the first practical step toward changing it, and that first step should be available to anyone who may benefit.

Map Your Loop is an educational reflection tool. It is not therapy, diagnosis, relationship assessment, or crisis support.

CHOOSE ONE FIGHT

Choose one recurring interaction.

Think of something you and your partner have disagreed about more than once.

It might involve money, parenting, housework, intimacy, phones, time together, family, work, feeling ignored, feeling criticized, tone, plans, or something else entirely.

You do not need to choose your worst fight.

Just choose one interaction that tends to follow a familiar path.

Keep it simple. You are naming the interaction, not explaining the whole argument.
Have you had some version of this interaction before?

SMALL SAFETY NOTE

Break the Loop is designed for recurring relationship conflict. If your relationship involves fear, threats, coercion, intimidation, or violence, do not treat those behaviors simply as a shared communication pattern. Prioritize safety and appropriate professional support.
